The login screen allows you to access the various types of online play: Sierra Online, LAN, and Direct Connection. Note that play on Sierra Online or via Direct Connection requires an active Internet connection for your computer.

Logging on to Sierra Online

The Login panel (located in the upper left) allows you to log on to Sierra Online. You must specify your user name and password before clicking the Login button. If you do not have a Sierra Online user name, click the Create New User button to create one. If this is your first login on this computer for this user name, the Terms of Use dialog will appear; you must agree to the Terms of Use before you can continue.

Note that the Username edit box remembers previous user names. You can use the drop down arrow to select one. You may also click the Remember Password check box to save your password for future logins.

The Login button will be unavailable if you do not have an active Internet connection or if you are unable to contact the Sierra Online servers.

Logging in will take you to the lobby server and room you were last in, if possible, or to an appropriate default lobby server/room if not. If you hold down the control key when you click the Login button, you will be able to select a room rather than automatically joining.

Creating Sierra Online Accounts

To create a Sierra Online Account, click the Create New User button in the Login panel (located in the upper left). The Create Account panel will display on the right side of the screen. The following fields will need to be entered:

Once all fields have been filled in with a valid value, the Create button will enable. Click on Create to have the account created for use. The Terms of Use dialog will now appear; you must agree to the Terms of Use before you can create an account.

Terms of Use Dialog

The Terms of Use dialog is displayed whenever a new account is created or the first time an existing is account is used to log on to Sierra Online on your computer. You must accept the terms of use before you may log on or create accounts. Click the I agree to the terms of use check box to signify your agreement. Once checked, you may click the Accept button to continue. If you do not agree to the terms of use, you may click the Reject button to return to the login screen.

LAN and Direct Connection Play

For LAN and/or Direct Connection play, select the Other Multiplayer button in the Status panel (located in the lower right). This will take you to the screens for other types of multiplayer. You may select the Help tab on these screens for additional information.

Retrieving Lost Passwords

To retrieve a lost password for a Sierra Online account, click the Lost Password button in the Options panel (located in the lower left). The Lost Password panel will display on the right side of the screen. You must enter a user name to retrieve a password for before the Retrieve Password button will enable. (Or you can select a user name using the drop down list.) Once a user name has been entered, click Retrieve Password.

Passwords are e-mailed to the e-mail account registered with the Sierra Online account. Passwords can only be requested once per 24 hours per account.

Retrieving Lost Usernames

To retrieve a lost username(s) for a Sierra Online account(s), click the Lost Username button in the Options panel (located in the lower left). The Lost Username panel will display on the right side of the screen. You must enter an e-mail address of the form a@b.c (where a, b, and c are any text) before the Retrieve Username(s) button will enable. Once an e-mail address has been entered, click Retrieve Username(s).

All usernames for the specified e-mail address will be e-mailed to that address. Usernames can only be requested once per 24 hours per account.

Initialization Failure

If there are problems validating your Internet connection or initializing for online play, the Initialization Failure Panel displays in place of the Login Panel, and the Status Panel will display "Failed to initialize online system."  The Initialization Failure Panel displays a summary of the problem, a Retry button, and possibly an Ignore button (depending on the type of error). Pressing Retry will attempt initialization again. Pressing Ignore will continue on as if the error did not occur (your mileage may vary).
